Well, I am a Jersey girl and I love all those great Jersey songs. Plus here in the great Garden State we are lucky enough to have a ton of radio stations playing everything from Sinatra to the latest hits.
These are the songs that I hear over and over again on my jersey radio while driving around the state. And everytime I hear them I crank up the volume and sing along.
There is something about the "One Hit Wonder" that you always remember the words and want to sing along. This song is the one that does it for me. I know that I have heard this song many times and yet, just a month ago, heard two new words that I have been singing wrong for the last 30 years.
My family and I have a funny story about this song. Our Jersey station plays music on the weekends only. When we take family car trips this is our station. Now matter what time of day we get into the car, at some point during the trip this song plays. We could be taking a 10 minute trip to the store or driving to the shore, but we always hear it.
My darling husband like to call it the "song from Hell" as it never dies. I just love it!
Livin' on a Prayer by Bon Jovi
Once I saw Bon Jovi live there was no going back on this song.
It is the ultimate sing along song that this group has ever done. I think sometimes they were trying to write a Jersey song - you know, a couple struggling to build a better life - and they succeeded. You can't help but blast this loud and sing. Stop at a red light and people sing with you. Go to their concert and be part of 15,000 people singing this song.
And then see Jon and Richie smile at the crowd.
And try not to love this song then. I dare you.
Bruce Springsteen by Born to Run
This is the ultimate Jersey song, by the ultimate Jersey songwriter.
What is it about this song that no matter how many times you hear it, you want to hit the reset button and hear it again? Is it the driving guitar, the sax work of the Big Man...or just the lyrics.....
"...let me in I want to be your friend, I want to guard your dreams and visions"
What jersey girl (or any girl for that matter) does not want their love to feel this way about them?
Who doesn't want someone to "love you with all the madness in my soul"?
I just know that when I hear this song, I get happy and I get to think of all those great summers hanging out at the shore with my friends looking for someone to love me this way.
And now I have it.

last year on our anniversary, my hubby gave me a card that said, i always wanted to know if love is wild and real, and you showed me that it is. the two songs i'd have to add to your list is jersey girl and thunder road ... :)
I adore all three of those songs - especially "Brandy."
Thanks for the SiTS visit today. I appreciate your time and comments!! Em
P.S. I promise if I had been blogging during Bush's blunders, he would've received equal time. Just so happens I started my little slice come August, right about the time the GOP stuck a cork in him. Rightfully so. I appreciate that you don't like to talk politics in the blogworld, I so get it. But I kind of dig getting different perspectives, so please come back and debate if you would like - every Friday. I may call myself a Republican, but I'm more a conservative liberal at heart. And open minded at that.
Thanks so much for visiting me on my SITS day....making the rounds. Wish me luck.

Hey there! You were ahead of me in the SITS roll call today, so I thought I'd come by and say hi. I totally know what you're saying about certain songs being ones you can listen to over and over.
I'm embarrassed to say that I've never heard of the first song, and my sis is a big Bruce fan, but I LOVE Livin' On A Prayer!
I'm stopping by from SITS to say hi!
Living on a prayer is of course my go to song for all nights karaoke. I love it and its rawness. This song makes me wish I was from Jersey. Sometimes ;o)
