No one wants to believe that their beautifully decorated home is not appealing to everyone who walks through the door - but guess what? - not everyone has the same taste you do, nor do they want to see your family in their new home.
So without further ado....
1) Go visit some high end boutique hotels. Look at how the lobby is decorated, look at the art, the plants, the use of mirrors and tabletops. Check out the bathroom and see how the counter is set up - notice the candles/towels or baskets. Ask to see a room, and make note of how the bed is made - the pillows the window treatments. That's what people want to see.
2) Take the personal away. Now is the time to remember that this is the house you want to sell, it's no longer your home. Take your personal ideas and use them on your new home hunt. Remove the 20 pictures of your kids, pets or other family. Paint most of the room a neutral color, pack away everything you can live without and then PACK MORE!
3) CLEAN, CLEAN and CLEAN! And when you think the cleaning is done, clean again. Buyers will open every closet, cabinet and look behind furniture. If they find dirt, they wonder what else you have not taken care of in the home. A dirty home is a signal to most buyers of bad things.....
So these are three easy things you can do to get started when you are considering selling your home. Then you can call me, Devonshire Design, Ltd and I will come out and finish the job and help get your house sold quickly!

Thanks for sharing those tips. Home staging is truly an essential part of selling your home and many home sellers prove the effectiveness of that strategy.
