When I heard about Hurricane Irene coming up the eastern coast of the US, I started to track it.
Not because I was worried about New Jersey, but because I was worried about my son - you know, the one in college - in Myrtle Beach! The path had it landing right on the NC/SC border, which would have reeked havoc on the Myrtle Beach area.
I started to watch every radar, listen to every weather channel, track bloggers who blog about the weather and well, generally drive my husband crazy. Will the school let us know if they are evacuating? Should he go inland to shelter? Should I think about flying him home?
How much can one person panic....well, apparently a lot.
Then I realized how crazy I was getting. I had to let it go, trust the school and my son to do all the right things. So I let it go.
Do you know what my son worried about all week? Getting his books..and his pillow.
By the way...as I sit here typing this the hurricane is battering New Jersey and I am soaking up the water seeping into my office (ground can only hold so much, right?).
It's going to be a long night....
